Now in our 5th year!
eFlute is a big, friendly and supportive online flute community, offering online tuition, courses, events, and more!
Home of the infamous eFlute Festival, Abbie’s mission was to bring flute players together during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, and she organised a huge pioneering online event. Putting it together in just 2 weeks (pulling many all-nighters!), the festival was a great success; running for a sold-out month with attendees from 16 different countries, employing over 40 renowned guest artists and scheduling over 60 concerts, workshops and masterclasses for players of every age and standard. Numerous international soloists and orchestral principals welcomed attendees into their living rooms for intimate and informal Q&A’s, lessons and performances. There was also a remote flute choir (video below) and an online Solo Flute Competition with numerous categories, as well as a final gala concert raising over £1,000 for NHS Charities Together and Help Musicians UK.
The informal atmosphere combined with the uniqueness of the global situation made this event incredibly unique, and the original festival will hopefully never need to be replicated! However, smaller-scale versions have taken place in 2022 and 2024, with plans underway for 2026 - and each one still strives to recreate some of the magic. Guest Artists have included flute superstars Emmanuel Pahud, Emily Beynon, Ian Anderson, Rachel Brown, Gareth Davies, Michael Cox and many, many more. The next event is happening in July 2025, called ‘Through the Keyhole’ - a parody of the infamous TV show.
Abbie is supported in eFlute events by fellow flautist Janna Hüneke and together they run The eFlute Academy, an ongoing weekly programme for adult learners, now in its 5th year. Their informal group classes are specifically designed to be as interactive as possible and cater for all budgets and levels. Free taster sessions are available to anyone who might want to try it - scroll down to find out more…
